In the first 6 months of 2020, the total import-export turnover between Vietnam and Canada will reach US $ 2.2 billion; in which imported 389.6 million USD and exported 1.8 billion USD. Thereby, the trade balance surplus reached nearly 1.4 billion USD.
1.The situation of exporting goods from Vietnam to Canada:
According to the statistics of the General Department of Customs, Vietnam’s exports to Canada in June 2020 increased significantly with 30.18%, reaching $ 338.09 million, but still slightly decreased by 0.11%. for the whole 6 months, reaching 1.77 billion USD.
Accounting for over 10% of the total export turnover in the first 6 months of the year, there are 3 groups of goods: Footwear of all kinds reached 178.34 million USD (10.04%), down 6.38%; Phones and accessories reached 301.2 million USD (16.96%), up 7.27%; Textiles and garments reached 336.56 million USD (18.95%), down 8.69% over the same period last year.
Two groups whose turnover increased twice (114.53% and 114.94%) in June 2020 but decreased slightly in 6 months (10.85% and 0.61%), respectively: transportation and spare parts and group of wood and wood products.
Notably, iron and steel products with an increase in turnover in the first half of the year amounting to 135.45%, the highest growth rate among all commodity groups exported to the Canadian market over the same period.
In addition, a number of commodity groups also saw an increase in turnover such as: vegetables and fruits with USD 14.22 million (+ 30.74%); Coffee reached 8.19 million USD (+ 42.25%); Confectionery and cereal products reached $ 6.86 million (+ 36.67%).

The most imported goods from Canada in the first 6 months of 2020 were wheat, reaching over 76.62 million USD, accounting for 19.67% of the total import turnover of goods from this market.
Machinery, equipment, tools and other spare parts reached over 28.66 million USD, accounting for 7.35% of the total turnover.
The third place was soybeans, accounting for 6.45% of the total import turnover of over US $ 25.15 million.
