For the first time exported to Singapore, with competitive prices, quality and beautiful colors, Vietnamese lychee has received a welcome from consumers in Singapore. After 2 weeks on the shelves, many supermarkets here have no fabric to sell.
2020 is the first year Singaporeans are enjoying lychee imported directly from Vietnam; Although the people of this island nation have been familiar with litchi fruits of Taiwan, China, Thailand for many years. Litchi has always been considered a premium fruit and has a high price compared to other fruits on the market, but Singaporeans every year consume litchi in large quantities. Litchi boxes in Singapore are usually packed in weight from 700g to 1,000g.
Ms. Tran Thu Quynh – Vietnam Trade Counselor in Singapore – said that in the first week, Vietnamese lychee sold at 5SGD / kg (the promotional price) and increased again to 6SGD / kg in the following week. , at the same price as Chinese fabrics are sold in Singapore. However, because the quality and color of lychee are much more beautiful, Singaporean consumers immediately preferred Vietnamese litchi. After 2 weeks on the shelves, many supermarkets have no more cloth to sell.
Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore said that by mid-June 2020, nearly 50 tons of fabric have been exported to Singapore from Hai Phong port and it is expected that by the end of the litchi season, the total export value could reach 100 tons.
Currently, the source of litchi to Singapore is exported from the Plantation Area by the OTAS Vietnam chain of link standards. Currently, Singaporean experts and the STAMEQ project are accelerating the implementation of the Cold Supply Pilot Project, to increase the added value for lychee and longan.
